Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!
This morning the students took a test to review what we've been working on. It's nice to see them sit quietly and work independently. :)

Our tree is starting to fill up with presents! On Tuesday, the whole class went to the Dollar Tree and picked out a present for their "Secret Santa". They each picked a name and selected one gift for their person. Then they wrapped the gifts and put them under the tree.

Christmas Tree & Present Craft

These were too cute not to post.
Miss Jill lead art yesterday. The students picked out what ornament stickers they wanted for their trees and stuck them to the front and back of the tree. All of the student's Christmas trees are hanging from the ceiling above their desks.

They also did a cute craft where they looked through catalogs and picked one toy or item they wanted for Christmas from Santa. Then they glued their picture to a piece of wrapping paper and wrote to: their name and from: Santa. Their little gift ideas are now in their stockings hung on the mantle with care. :)

7 school days left until holiday break!! Here is our paper chain count down.

Holiday Bulletin Board

Holiday Bulletin Board

My assistant, Jill, is very creative and has done a wonderful job with my bulletin boards. Here is our holiday bulletin board that we have all been enjoying!

On Monday, our class will be going caroling at a local nursing home. Students are encouraged to dress up a bit in some red or green! After caroling we are going out to lunch. The students will be practicing their community social skills by ordering their lunch, using their manners, and practicing using money in a real world situation.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! My intention of creating this is to display some of the things I have done to my classroom as well as art projects, bulletin board ideas, etc. Here to help other educators as well as share with the parents of my class so they can see deeper into some of the things we are doing! :)

I will start off with a little bit about myself. My name is Megan Guard and I am a second year at Brownsburg West Middle School. I love my school and am so blessed to have so much support. I have to give a shout out to my principal, Mrs. Johnson, who has been my biggest supporter and helped me get through my challenging first year last year. I teach the life skills class and have students with a variety of different disabilities. I enjoy getting to know my students and figuring out what works uniquely for them. I like to make learning fun. I think I trick my students into thinking school is all fun and games, when really they are practicing math or reading skills. ;)

My life outside of school consists of time spent with family and friends, checking out new ideas on pinterest, doing hair and makeup, working part time at a salon in Zionsville, and music/singing.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
